Sun Style

Scrolling through Tai Chi ( taiji ) videos this morning, this  “vintage” video caught my eye.  I enjoy looking through old photos, watching classic shows and even collecting some antiques (working through that hobby though, because they can lock our energy in the past).   So when I eyed this sun style video I immediately wanted to check it out.

The ‘about’ section in YouTube introduces this as Sun Jiayun, the daughter of Sun Lutang (1861 – 1932),  as she records on video her performance of  her father’s Sun Style Tai Chi.

This video may have been uploaded 7 years ago, but judging by the video style (looks to me like film used in the 60’s and 70’s).  However that is just my guess.  It is interesting to watch the different styles and practitioners.

The Sun-style (孫氏) t’ai chi ch’uan is well known for its smooth, flowing movements which omit the more physically vigorous crouching, leaping and fa jin of some other styles. The footwork of Sun style is unique, when one foot advances or retreats the other follows. It also exhibits small circular movements with the hand. Its gentle postures and high stances make it very suitable for martial arts therapy.  –Wikipedia

I had seen this earlier when I first join this group. I enjoyed watching it then and enjoy watching it now.
